Ashin Upagupata

Upagupta who was a powerful Buddhist monk last two thousand years ago, was one of the Buddhist leader during the time of Asoka. His victory had been very famous B.C 3^RD century that he was the only one who could gain the Mara after Buddha passed way. Upagupta , he had being influence Buddhist culture and belief in Thailand, Myanmar and Laos until now. Those Buddhist people believe that Upagupta can protect from any dangers and people use his statuses and images as a protector. Especially people usually use his image and status during the Buddhist ceremonies to get rid of any diffident kind of dangers.

There is a one of the English vision books published by Chularlongkon University press. The name of book “The legend and cult of Upagupta”  this book has given many information about Upagupta regarding with people’s belief, culture and tradition.[1]
