visit to Mahayana Temples in Thailand
Introduction
I liketraveling also l
used to travel when I have free time in every year so l loves this trip too.
Studying about Mahayana Buddhism, i have getting know new knowledge from our
two teachers. As people say that more study more want to know that is correct
because I don’t know about Mahayana Buddhism but after I study about four
months I knew a lot so I would like to explain about these field trip as much
as I understand.
Visiting
to two temple
I3, 9, 2012 wewent a
study trip to two Mahayana temples for our Mahayana subject. Invited by our
teacher Dr. Sutara to a distinguish Chinese Buddhist scholar, Most Ven. Dao
Jian, to teach Mahayana philosophical knowledge to or 3rd years
student at MCU, he, Master Dao Jian, very expert in Mahayana Buddhism so we
have also good chance to study with him. Not only we studied in the classroom
about two weeks but also we go opportunity to learn outside what are really
mahayan Buddhist art and teachings exactly. We went This field trip sponsor by
Faculty of Buddhism to our 3rd year’s international students under
the Dr. Sutara. In this trip we have also a good translator from china she is
one of PhD candidate student at MCU with Our Mahayana tearcher& Master Chinese
Buddhist monk took up to a first temple named Wat Bar Ron Baranuon( Dragon
temple). Arrival those temple round 9.30 am on Wednesday from MCU, Ayutthaya
Campus, the temple are very beautiful and many interesting things inside. We
did really happily study trip getting view point form this temple excellent
traditional art and detaining Chinese Buddhist culture from many years ago
until now. Let me introduce about this
temple what I have learned from.

The design of this
temple original from China and this temple establish by Chinese lower couple. But
I am really sorry because I don’t know one things that era of establishing this
temple. As soon as we arrive the Temple,
Master Dao jain explained about the temple dwelling by Mahayana Buddhist monk
Chan Chu following with us around his temple.
When You enter the this
temple you will see first see a future Buddha surrounding by four universal
protector Devas.it is not first time for me seeing these kind of big Buddha
especially big stomach but I don’t understand why Buddha have big stomach since
I was young I knew one thing that this kind of Buddha is not really Buddha it
is only in story who are very rich person.
If someone meets him he can be rich after take care of those Buddha.
According to Translator, he told us this is the future Buddha who is very rich
and from rich family so on. For me wow..!!!!!!!! I never know before this kind
of Buddha who really is. Now understand this is the future Buddha in Mahayana
Buddhism named Para Sriaryamaitreya Bodhisattva we called in Thai.

There are The four
guardians ( Devas) of the world . the first one is Dhatarastra, Eastdeva who keeps his kingdom the white
guardian of the east king of gandharvasndpisacas. Seond one is Virupaksa , he
has The broad-eye deva, the red guardian of the west king of nagas ( serpents).
The third one is Virudhaka, he take South deva of increase and growth the blue
guardian of south king of kumbhandhas. The last one is Vaisramana( dhanada), he
control The north deva who hears much and is well-versed, the yellow guardian
of the north. King of yaksas(giants).Here four picture as below categorically..

Thus four Davas will
know as in Theravada tradition, We also know those above four Devas are very
powerful. Because they are take care of our universe from four paths of corners
belief in Traditions. In this case , Mahayana & Theravada have same
beliefs. I think every Mahayana temple will be in these four kind of Deva. Four Deva statues are very good looking and
make interesting more to us may be other visitors too.

Picture, you can see donation center inside the
temple and right side donation box is inside many paper who had already donated
written something about blessing form Buddha.
From ecological views, inside
the temple there are good environment and they having many distribute tree
around the temple. According to our lord Buddha, everyone should love and
conserve our environment because we can survive many things from forest such as
food and good nature also Buddha was born and pass way in forest too. Not only
temple develop tree but also keeping the fish showing by loving-kindness and
compassion so we enjoyed lunched vegetarian as well .see picture as
below..
Second Mahayana Buddhist temple

We reached second
temple named The bhoma-khunaram located in Soi 19 sathupradit road in yannawa
district of Bangkok was founded in 1959 by
phramahakhanacharnchindhammasmathiwat( bodh-chaeng) the late abbot and head of
the Chinese Buddhist order of sangha in Thailand. This temple is one of the oldest Mahayana
Buddhist temple in Thailand. Also we had see many interesting historical acts
inside the temple. There is one things that I want to point out Chinese
historical acts that was so great I mean excellent they did. Please see as
below photos..how amazing Chinese had arts in the wall.

We were very happy in
this temple because we the abbot is very kind to us he said very nicely speech
and he asked to us to do not disrobe. Everyone had fun at that time but we
really deeply thinking what master teach to us and we got a written peper for
each one such writing by Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha so on. This temple also provided
education center for lay people and monks. Abbot said he is establishing one of
Buddhist University in MaechanDistric, Chiangrai province, Thailand.

–the late patriarch of Chinese buddhist sect, founding abbot of Bhoman-Khunaram
Temple ( ven.Bodh-Chaeng), deceased in the meditatied position, on 25th
September 1986 at the age of 84. Presently is stored in the viharBuraphacharn.
The Buddhism arts in
this beautiful temple are a magnificent cross between Thai, Chinese, and
Tibetan styles. The elaborate artistic value of Bhoman-Khunaram Temple has been
widely known and it is often referred to as the most beautiful and magnificent
Chinese temple in Thailand and even in entire Southeast Asia. Now Ven.Yen-Teck,
the patriarch of Chinese Buddhist Sect is a abbot of Bhoman-Khunaram temple.
Conclusion
Understanding of
Mahayana Buddhism is very remarkable for me in
Studying Mahayana subject is more interesting in Buddhist societies
because I know more and more about Mahayana and involving the different cultures. These
field trips also make me very happy and excited. Whatever we believe following by diffident
tradition we Buddhists have final goal that is the Nibbana. Mahayana &
Theravada also belief in. but each person should follow their own culture to
get suitable accommodation and good neighbors in everyday life.
